Find out how NAPFA tests are run for secondary students, what the six test items are, and which students may be exempt from taking the test.

Official NAPFA test for sec 2s and 4/5s will commence in term 2.
Students will be put through the actual test after a round of pre-tests and intervention programmes for students weak in certain testing stations.
The failures and absentees will be collated and they will be given a re test.
With the increase in PE periods, there should be sufficient time for a thorough preparation of NAPFA.
The Sec 1s and 3s will be required to undergo a In House Fitness testing to gauge their fitness index and to work on their area of weakness.
The test items are:
Sit-ups: Maximum in one minute
Standing Broad Jump: Better of two distances
Sit and Reach: Better of two attempts with floating zero point
Pull-ups (for males 15 years and above only): Maximum in half-a-minute
Inclined Pull-ups (for all females, and males up to the age of 14): Maximum in half-a-minute
Shuttle Run: Faster of two 4×10 meter attempts
2.4-km Walk-Run: Minimum time on firm and level surface
Guidelines on Exemption of Students from the NAPFA Test
The following categories of students are to be completely exempted from the NAPFA test:
1. Students with medical problems (e.g. heart problems, soft bones, etc), as advised by doctors from the School Health Service (SHS) after the annual medical check-ups;
2. Students with medical certificates for serious/long illnesses (e.g. cancer, hole in the heart, etc);
3. Students with physical handicaps (e.g. one hand without fingers);and / or
4. New cases of severely overweight students who have yet to obtain a certification of fitness from SHS_._
The following categories of students are to be exempted from the NAPFA test for this year if they have less than two months of training before the test date:
1. Students recovering from fractured arm/foot/leg and
2. Students who have just recovered from serious illnesses such as chicken pox and dengue fever.
